Mt. Antero

Class 216 mi RT+4,500 ft

Colorado's highest gem locality — famous for aquamarine crystals embedded in the rock. A long but non-technical hike on a well-defined 4WD road and trail. 4WD access shortens the route significantly.

Known for the 'Angel of Shavano' — a snow formation visible on the east face each spring. The standard route is a straightforward Class 2 hike with great views of the Arkansas Valley.

Mt. Princeton

Class 212 mi RT+4,300 ft

The easiest of the three Salida-area 14ers, with a well-marked trail and only moderate scrambling near the summit. Great views of Chalk Creek Canyon and the hot springs below.
